I’m not sure who said this, but I noticed it while watching tonight’s Republican presidential debate in Florida. It’s no secret that Mitt Romney is a product of polls and handlers, but even for the most “plastic” candidate in the race, this takes the cake. Notice how his response immediately reflects the “whisper”:

I am going to guess it was Chris Matthews telling Russert to finish the question. Russert always wants to be the guy with the “gotcha” question and he could have really looked bad if he didn’t hear or know beforehand that Reagan raised taxes.
I don;t trust Romney and I am not totally ready to jump to a conclusion here but if it is true that someone was feeding him answers I will not be surprised.

GO HUCK!

I disagree with you Ryan, it happened too fast and Romney responded immediately as if he was used to hearing it for it to have been anything other than a ‘feed.’
Sorry, but that was supposed to be God whispering to Huckabee – he actually RAISED TAXES! – it’s just that Huckabee was not in tuned!, in more ways than one! …LOL!!
Ryan, for god sakes wake up. This is all scripted….
Sources at MSNBC have denied that the comment came from the moderators’ table, claiming that, according to a sound analysis (which Giuliani’s people requested immediately following the debate), the “raised taxes” voice was on the same channel as Romney’s microphone. Attention is now being turned to the Secret Service, which regularly performs EM-wave sweeps of any area that they are protecting (an important function, since they also depend on the ability to communicate with earpieces).
I heard it last night. I had the debate on my DVR and when I heard I woke my wife up on the couch and said listen and played it over and over. I always thought Mitt was a fake.
If you listen very carefullt and tune up the volume he says” Raise taxes I’m not gonna”. Will the old Media report this?
That voice heard whispering is none other than Mitt’s. Now the MSM needs to admit for a FACT that all of the candidates are provided with the questions IN ADVANCE.
Clearly he was provided the questions in advance, and this was his own prepared reminder – played back to him when he wanted to hear it.
Mitt likely had a wireless ear piece and a transmitting device in his hand that he alone could activate – which contained prerecorded brief prompts to get him heading in the right direction with his answers. His own wireless microphone channel (on the podium) picked up the signal that was transmitted from his recorded answer to his ear piece as a digital audio signal and it played through the house speakers and on television.
That whispered voice IS Mitt Romney.
That was his conscience talking.
Why do people jump to conclusions?
Domenico Montanaro, an NBC News political researcher, wrote on the network’s political blog, First Read: “After reviewing the tapes, NBC determined that an open mic[rophone] picked up a whisper from the audience.
“It is unclear who it is that says it, but it was not said by any of the candidates, was not heard in the hall and, more importantly, not heard by the candidates.”
Everyone just relax and stick with the facts. It seems that Fox News reported this first. My question is why report something like this when you don’t have the facts? CNN was good to hold back.
Hamilton, you’re wrong.
NBC’s analysis revealed that it was a mic from the audience. Listen to the debate closely and you will also hear whispering throughout the debate at various times, not just when Mitt is speaking/about to speak.
