The only reason I bother fooling with this guy is because organizations like the Southern Poverty Law Center and even magazines like The New Republic consider him a serious source. Let the SPLC declare the Southern Avenger a “hate group” (I think CNN’s Lou Dobbs is a “hate group” already) and it’s considered the gospel – and would be determined by folks like Sebesta. Scary stuff, if you care about free speech.
Also, to those who have messaged me wondering why Sebesta’s blog is so poorly written, I haven’t a clue. Not everyone is a sufficient writer and apparently he doesn’t have spellcheck. To be politically-incorrect (an unpardonable sin to Sebesta), his syntax suggests either that he is a foreigner with a poor grasp of the English language or borderline retarded. Who knows.
Regardless, Sebesta’s latest blog suggests that the Charleston City Paper only publishes my stuff (and CP readers only read it) for pure amusement. His proof is that the CP also features articles on the arts and wine tasting – cosmopolitan tastes, worlds apart apparently, from the redneck diatribes of “da Suthern Avingerr.” Woodoggies!
Writes Sebesta:
“The name of your blog and column is “Southern Avenger.” It isn’t Southern Conservative, Southern Heritage, Southern Viewpoint, or some other name, it is “Southern Avenger.” Some people who read the Charleston City Paper are reading you for amusement.
I am sure to the readers of these articles the Southern Avenger is delightful local color. Perhaps they will take about him at the arts and wine festival or at Starbucks after seeing an art house movie.”
And he still doesn’t think he is an elitist.

Perhaps he’s onto something–after all,I occasionally read Sebesta’s blog, and then for amusement purposes only. For any other reason he is simply unreadable. Deep down, even a moron like him must know that; attaching this to his assumption that everyone with any sense must think like him, he must conclude that people just read political columns for laughs.
In all seriousness, though, this guy is just awful.
I wish i could read the news for entertainment value, but sadly everything going on is far too serious to find comedy in any of it. I thank you for standing up to what I and many of us see as a failing media and a delusional political system.
Sebesta has a new blog post. In it, among other things he says,
“Publications do parade around some fictional characters or real people in their publications thinking it will amuse their readers.
Evidently, it is politically incorrect for me to bring up that publications do this. That the alternative weeklies have a readership that would like to think they are advant guard, chic, cool, hip or whatever and these readerships might find Southern Avenger amusing.”
Mischaracterizing Mr. Hunter’s column doesn’t make Sebesta politically incorrect, it just makes him transparently and abjectly stupid.
I REALLY want to interview Sebesta on the “neo-confederate” movement, but you can’t even comment on his site. Ed, if you are reading this email me.

It is funny that Sebesta attacks Jack Hunter’s Pseudonym “The Southern Avenger” while Sebesta’s own pseudonym is “Crawfish.” An elitist hypocrite no less? I found this little morsel on his blog where he beams about being acknowledged:
“Confederates in the Attic,” by Tony Horwitz, formerly of the “Wall Street Journal” and now with “The New Yorker.” Acknowledged in the Acknowledgments as “Crawfish,” a nom-de-plume on page 391.
Keep up the good work SA. If a clown like Sebesta is trying, key word trying, to derail or attack you then you must be doing something right. Or is that write?
hahaha, Sebesta’s a hypocritical idiot.
I felt more “hate” looking over his blog then looking over any Pro-Confederate website.
He needs to GET A LIFE.
