Geraldine Ferraro’s “controversial” quote:
“If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman of any colour, he would not be this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in this concept.”
In Race Matters I made a similar statement:
“When Obama and his supporters make the case that “race doesn’t matter,” they are ignoring the fact that Obama himself would not be where he is if he wasn’t black. Obama is undeniably charming and charismatic, but it is also obvious that his race has made him a unique and attractive candidate to many voters. Obama’s political platform actually differs little from that of a Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, or even someone like Joe Biden, yet something still sets Obama apart — and it isn’t simply personality or leadership skills. “
That pointing out that Obama’s race is a factor in this race is controversial, is a testament to the politically-correct, hyper-sensitive age we live in, not the vaildity of the statement (in private, I’m sure even Obama would agree).
I could also point out that Hillary Clinton wouldn’t be where she is if she weren’t married to Bill Clinton and Mitt Romney would be nowhere without his daddy’s last name.
No brainers, each and all.

I wouldn’t say charming.. more like the level of critical thinking in this country has fallen so far that most people simply believe whatever they are told to.
So true Paleo.
Has it occurred to anyone that Obama’s color has almost certainly cost him more votes (especially among Archie Bunker types) than it has won him?
The idea that being black in America is somehow an _advantage_ is patently absurd.
Obama has succeeded despite being black, not because of it.
Totally disagree with you concerning
Mitt Romney, his accomplishments were
physically done by him. I’d say great
genes and life’s lessons taught by
caring , loving parents has prepared
him to be a wonderful steward of his
life. Daddy can leave you lots,it’s
how you choose to carry on!!!!!
I think your unfairly unreasonable!!!

The most recent issue of Rolling Stone is indicative of this whole “phenomena”. Picture of Obama with a glow around him.

Not unlike the picture that was on Drudge about a month ago which showed a picture of Obama from the back with a distinct halo around his head. The MSM is going out of there way to portray Obama falsely or at the very least as a wonderkind who can do no wrong. Obama is a socialist who will do great harm to this country. Of course after GW it may be hard to imagine anything worse. Maybe in that sense worse is better? Will we wake up then? This fawning and love fest with him is just another indication of how sick we have become as a nation and a people.
90%+ blacks are voting for him in almost every state. Glad they are not racial. His preacher preaches hatred and disdain for America and whites. His mother is avowed socialist who formerly worked for the Ford foundation. His dad and several step-bothers are radical Muslims.
Yep, just the man for our President.
What have we done? Our choices are Hillary, Obama or John McCain?? Are we even paying attention? Have we just given up on self-determination and real Liberty?
Of course G. Ferraro is right and better then that she appears to have a real backbone(unlike about 95% of our elected Representatives) in not backing away from what she said.
I know FAR more people who have said they are voting for Obama because he is black, then I know people who say are voting against him because he is black.
Ask yourself this. Aside from skin color, what is the difference between John Edwards and Obama. The honest answer is “not much”.
As for Romney..it is true that Romney has accomplishments..for example his fascistic/communistic fusionist health care package for Mass. What is unclear is why anyone regards him as a conservative. In point of fact, McCain, who is nominally conservative on a good day, is considerably more conservative then Romney. Afterall, at least he has a serious record of opposing pork and pointing out serious spending problems. Mitt cannot even say that.
