Daniel,

The answer is simple, at least in theory. Severely restrict immigration from Islamic nations and end foreign military intervention in the Middle East. Leave them be. Of people running for president this year, only Ron Paul wanted to bring the troops home, and wanted to end all student visas from "rogue" nations.

President Bush has the WORST possible answer on both - Bush, the illegal-alien loving, multiculturalist, believes Islam is purely a "religion of peace," and would never suggest restricting immigration on cultural/religious/ethnic grounds - PLUS, he has plunged the U.S. headfirst militarily into the Middle East in the worst way possible. "Invade the world, invite the world" is the Bush/neocon philosophy.

The far right in Europe, groups like the British National Party or the Fronte Nationale in France - despite what people may think of them - are absolutely right on both immigration and war. So is London's new mayor Boris Johnson, who is a Buchananite (Pat, that is) with strong libertarian tendencies. Johnson is anti-war AND anti-Islam - at least in his own backyard.

In other words, the Right in Europe "gets it" because they have to. In America we can still afford silly fantasies about "terrorists hating freedom" which amounts to nothing more than a sales pitch for American imperialism

Ya know, I'm beginning to sound like a broken record.

Good speech, and excellent observation of what we that have "awoken" see clearly also.

While you point out the problem, any suggestions on fixes? I'm trying to get to know the local chapter of the Republicans. So far they seem rather friendly on the surface. But my goodness make a suggestion that the current approach may be a "bit off", and they seem to transform as a werewolve in the full moon. Scary bunch of folks to be around when you mention the Constitution.

So, my point is any clue as to how to re-educate these older generational follow the leader folks?
