In the 1990’s, the rise of the alternative music underground, which eventually conquered the rock mainstream, was percieved as the triumph of heartfelt, principled artists against the corporate – and empty – status quo.
The ever-principled, Republican Ron Paul plans to stage a mini-protest against his own party in St. Paul, Minnesota. Let’s hope the multiple forces behind the genuinely, conservative Texas Congressman surpass, upstage and eventually defeat the tired, statist – and at this point, counterproductive - mainstream Republican Party, which remains “conservative” in name only.

Although I have way more affection for cock-rockers than I do mainstream national Republicans, and even Vince Neil would likely be a better president than Bush.
